I Need Sleep!

Who’s in Charge?

It’s all too often that we put our faith in to the hands of others. “I trust that my doctor will heal my ailment” or “my financial analyst has me covered”. Maybe because it’s easier to blame somebody else when things go wrong rather than take responsibility. When it comes to your health it’s safe to ask the question, “who’s in charge?” Take an inventory of who is participating in your health. Are you? You might even ask the bigger spiritual question “where does my health come from?” Spirituality is a big part of your health and well being too!

The Power to Change

We all grew up learning that the DNA was the “brain of the cell”.  In fact, we were even plagued with mom and dad’s genes.  But what if all of this was not true?  What if you could influence your genetic expression?  What if you were given a say again in how the game of life turns out?

Epigenetics (environmental influence on genes) and nutrigenomics (nutritional influence on gees) are two fields of study that are changing healthcare as we know it. YOU are the major result of your health status.  That’s right, what you eat, what you think, what you speak all has an impact on your health.  The good news…  If your health is not up to par, YOU can change.  

Take a look at what you eat.  Does it come in a package or wrapper or fresh from the grocery store.  Take a look at what read and watch.  Is it numbing and demotivating or empowering and stimulating.  Take a look at what you do.  Is it always focused on you or do you engage with others and your community?

Your health is sensitive to your environment.  Poor health?  Change your environment.  Nobody wants to live by the landfill.  Clean up the garbage you take.  The power to change is held by you.

Image Nation and The Blame Game

Probably one of the easiest escape routes that we know as human beings is blame.

“My business would be fine if Washington would just lower the tax rate”

“My boss always liked her better, of course she got the raise.”

“Can you believe that test, the teacher was totally unfair and put a bunch of stuff on their we never learned”

“But officer I didn’t see the red light because of the glare from the sun”

It has almost become routine to blame something or someone for our follies. Why take responsibility when we can easily duck and dodge it while maintaining your pristine image.

We have turned new genre of image casting despite character. Truly a new “Image Nation” with Facebook and twitter allowing us to build a profile that looks so amazing with out any questioning of the substance behind it.

How do you change? It has to start inside. Yes with you. Actively choosing to take responsibility means identifying each time you pass blame. Routinely catching yourself as you start to point a finger. The change starts in the heart… you know, right now, what you’re not taking responsibility for. Take action today, but watch out, you might just get in touch with you. You might discover your weak spots and make a change. You might end up having nothing left over to point a finger at. You might just end up being responsible for you!

Purpose Behind the Problem

Too many times a problem can consume.  It can ruin a day or week or longer if you let it.  It changes attitude, outlook and can pull you from your true purpose.  Suppose the problem was actually the solution.  A necessary step to allow abundance in your life.  What if life was all about the problems and how you chose to deal with them?

A life void of problems would also lack purpose.  Choose to embrace problems as a necessary step in life.  You can’t control what comes your way, but you can control how you handle it.  Stack on the problems, buckle down and move forward toward your purpose.  What a journey it will be!

What do you believe?

Have you ever had something just visit you over and over again until you realize that maybe you should take a closer look? Recently, this has been the case for me on the topic of beliefs. I have began to realize that most, if not all people (including myself) hold a set of beliefs that guide their actions daily. Some of you would say “of course” but what about the beliefs that keep so many paralyzed in life? Beliefs that may have been such a long part of one’s life that it has become truth. So much so that every part of you holds this belief as reality. Try these on for size:

I’m not pretty enough, creative enough, smart enough, tall enough, healthy, capable, or you fill in the blank. Are you accident prone, are you cancer, fat, skinny, fibromyalgia, broke, heart disease, diabetic, bad with money, bankrupt, divorced, tired all the time, a bad husband or wife, bad father or mother? How about anti-social, lazy, too slow, distracted, attention deficit, hyperactive, too analytical, worrywart, anxious, scared or thousands of more that I have missed.

You see everyday beliefs are thrown at us like darts at a dart board. You may adapt and become some and shun others. What beliefs have you become? Are they true? If you believe them to be true then this becomes your reality. Why not identify and challenge these beliefs? Did somebody put this belief on you? Television, a teacher, a parent, a friend? Regardless of the source, these disempowering beliefs are guiding you actions today. They have defined you without your permission.

If you want to make a real change in your life let go of your most dis-empowering beliefs, give them up and adopt more empowering and healthy beliefs. Fulfill your life, your dreams, your aspirations. People do it everyday. Choose the more empowering beliefs that fit you better. In fact, it might just be the way God made you.
